The session was followed by a Mock Drill Session where a few staff members were made to use the firefighting gadgets to help them practically understand how they work and operate. All in all, the workshop proved to be quite informative.
SPECIAL EDUCATION AWARENESS & CWSN IDENTIFICATION
“Just because they can’t express it does not mean they aren’t listening, thinking, feeling, or understanding it. Assume they can, and help them to tell you in whatever way they can manage.”
Every child is unique and must be taught the way he/she can learn and not just the way they are simply taught. Some are with special educational and emotional needs. They need acceptance and support to overcome their learning difficulties. They are just differently abled, not disabled. Considering this view point, a workshop on special education was conducted at Lt. Col. Mehar Little Angels Sr. Sec. School on 30th September 2024 in Blue Room.
The workshop was aimed to make teachers aware of learning difficulties such as Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Asperger and ADHD faced by the children at different stages of the school life. They simply have trouble in reading, writing or may be calculations, difficulty in finding important points or main idea, confusion of similar words, poor note-taking and outlining skill, frequent spelling errors and difficulty in retention. Emphasis was laid on the role of parents and teachers to identify, accept and seek timely help and at no stage should lose hope and deprive the child of his confidence. The concept of inclusive education was discussed in detail. All in all, the workshop turned out to be quiet informative.
