Assessment Policy for Classes III to V (2023-2024)

Regular Assessment of students will be done regularly throughout the academic session as per the weightage of marks given in the table

Parameters of Internal Assessment

The activities given in each parameter are suggestive and need to be assessed as per students Participation, Facilitation, Organization, Data collection, Analysis and Inference making skills.

There will be two periodic tests.

External examinations (pen and paper Exam i.e. Mid Term and Annual Examination)

These examinations will test achievements of basic learning outcomes through assessment of core concepts and knowledge from the National and local Curricula along with the relevant higher Order skills.

Co- Scholastic Areas

Co-curricular activities like Yoga/ Physical education, Work education/ SUPW, Art/ Craft education will be graded on a 3- point grading scale (A to C)

Promotion Guidelines

The students of classes III and IV will not be held back in the same class.

For the students of class V, given Passing Criteria will be followed

1. A student must secure at least 33% marks in each subject studied by him/ her during the session.
2. The promotion to the next class will also be subject to the condition that a minimum of 25% of marks be scored in each subject in Annual Examination.
3. Students failing in subject(s) will be eligible for appearing for Re-Examination.

In order to be declared “Pass” in Re-Examination, a student will have to secure at least 25% marks in the subject(s) in which he/ she has taken the Re-Examination.

4. If a student fails to secure above percentage of marks in the Re-Examination, then he/she will be placed in the category of “Essential Repeat”(ER) and will be held back in the same class during the next session.

There will be three periodic tests. Out of three, marks of two best periodic tests will be considered.

External examinations (pen and paper Exam i.e. Mid Term and Annual Examination)

These examinations will test achievements of basic learning outcomes through assessment of core concepts and knowledge from the National and local Curricula along with the relevant higher Order skills.

The Question Papers for the Mid Term Examinations will be set out of the syllabus of the First Term.

The Question Papers for the Annual Examinations will be set out of the whole syllabus covered in First Term and Second Term.

The students of classes VI and VII will not be held back in the same class.

For the student of class VIII, given Passing Criteria will be followed
